Maude B. Holshouser

KANNAPOLIS - Maude Barringer Holshouser, 88, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

She was born July 5, 1920, in Cabarrus County to the late D.W. and Nora Honeycutt Barringer. A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, during World War II she helped build airplanes in Baltimore, Md., affectionately known as Rosey's Riveters.

Mrs. Holshouser was an active member of Centergrove Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoy M. Holshouser; brother Melvin Barringer; and sister Ruth Fisher.

She is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Harris and husband Tom of Davidson; grandchildren Loudera Donnelly and Chandra Harris; great-grandchildren Zack, Elizabeth, Jon and Mary Agnes; and great-great-granddaughter Alexandria.

Service: A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Carolina Memorial Park with Dr. Terry Moore officiating.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Holshouser family.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Genesis Eldercare and a special thanks to "Cookie."
