Thursday, July 2, 2009 — Hattie Mae Shaver Smith was lifted into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 7:36 in the morning at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle.
A celebration of Mrs. Smith’s life will be held at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle, at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, where she was a member. The Rev. Ron Honeycutt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the hour of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 15, 1912 in Stanly County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Dora Skeen Earnhardt Shaver and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harvey Lee Smith in 1998. Also four brothers, Odis Alexander, Lester Vernell, Worth McKenzie and Loy Frank Shaver and a sister, Selma Lee Shaver Smith.
Surviving Mrs. Smith is a daughter and her husband, Elizabeth Gwendolyn and Robert Ward of Aynor, S.C.; a granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Ward of Aynor, S.C.; a grandson and wife, Keith Alan and Katharine Hubbard Ward of Raleigh; and a beloved great-granddaughter, Marian Elizabeth Ward of Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home, Albemarle, NC; or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
