Irene Trexler Cross

SALISBURY - Mrs. Irene Trexler Cross, 100, of Salisbury, passed away July 24, 2012, at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Mrs. Cross was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Boss Columbus Trexler and Frances Poole Trexler.

Mrs. Cross was educated in the Rowan County schools, had worked for Rowan Business Forms. A member of Christiana Lutheran Church, she was a life-member of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary Auxiliary.

She was a former member of Granite Quarry Senior Citizens and was very active in the LCW as long as her health permitted. She taught Sunday School for many years and loved flowers, gardening, making quilts and afghans.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Carl Stanton Cross, who passed away Jan. 11, 1981.

Survivors include a son, Mr. Stanton Cross and wife Sandra of Salisbury; two grandsons, Adam Cross of Charlotte and Dr. Brian Cross of Atlanta; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Garrison of Salisbury.

Service: The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christiana Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends following the service in the church basement.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christiana Lutheran Church, Roof Fund, 6190 U.S. Hwy. 52, Salisbury NC 28146.
