SALISBURY - Rebecca Thomason Gobble, 89, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, in Salisbury.

Born July 10, 1920, in Rowan County, to the late Mattie Mae Barnhardt Thomason and Charles Gilbert Thomason, she attended Rowan County Schools and was a homemaker. Mrs. Gobble was a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Horace Adam Gobble, preceded her in death on July 22, 2003. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Spencer Thomason of Salisbury; and sisters Sarah Goodman of Salisbury and Estelle Ward of Spencer.

Survivors are son Ronnie Adam Gobble and wife Sylvia of Cleveland; two daughters, Dorothy "Dottie" Gobble Plott and husband Gene of Mocksville and Reba Gobble Stephens and husband Larry of Mocksville; Annie Shuping of Salisbury, Beatrice Merrill of Salisbury, Jean Foster of Granite Quarry and Colleen Baxley of Salisbury; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Service and Visitation: A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Rowan Memorial Park. Dr. Larry Summey of Franklin Presbyterian Church will conduct the service. The family will receive friends 1hour prior to service from 10-11 a.m. at Summersett Funeral Home.

Memorials: May be made to Franklin Presbyterian Church, or Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice.
