Dewette Eagle Trexler

SPENCER - Dewette Eagle Trexler, 94, formerly of Spencer, died Aug. 14, 2009, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Born Aug. 23, 1914, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Edna Ridenhour Eagle and Rev. Eli Franklin Eagle. She was educated in Rowan County schools and was a homemaker and professional seamstress.

Mrs. Trexler was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer and was a 50-year member of Spencer Woman's Club, where she was one of two surviving charter members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zebulon Trexler, on May 16, 1970; daughter Carolyn Trexler Robinson in 1990; son Robert Vance Trexler in 2003; grandsons Jonathan Trexler in 1972 and Zebulon Trexler in 1982; sisters Elva Swicegood, Ruth Marshall, Edna Rose Hoffman in 2005; and brother Eli Franklin Eagle, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Donald Dunham Trexler (Nancy) of Granite Quarry, Charles Ray Trexler (Jeanette) of Concord, Gwendolyn Trexler Tuchek (Richard) of Salisbury, Betty Trexler Weant of Rockwell; brothers Frank Eagle (Edith) of Salisbury, Glenn Eagle (Betty) of Oxford, Bobby Eagle (Jean) of Garner; half-brothers Norman Eagle (Joanne) of Blue Ridge, Texas, Stephen Eagle (Sue) of Salisbury, Tony Eagle (Connie) of Catawba County; half-sister Susan Eagle Waters (Johnny) of Raleigh; grandchildren David Robinson (Tina) of Columbia, Md., Karen Wynn (Del) of Belmont, Douglas Robinson (Fara) of Charlotte, Greg Turney (Kathy) of Newport, Eric Turney (Crystal) of Salisbury, Sabra T. Ivey (Richard) of Wake Forest, Sonya T. Spiewak (Steve) of Purcellville, Va., Lisa W. Service: A Celebration of the Life of Mrs. Trexler will be conducted 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17 at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Franklin Myers, minister of First Baptist Church of Spencer, and Rev. Darrell Norris, Chaplain at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Monday, Aug 17. at Summersett Funeral Home, and at other times, the families will be at their respective homes.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

The Trexler family would like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Home for their kind and loving care.
