Frank P. Eagle

SALISBURY - Mr. Frank Payton Eagle, 101, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Dec. 13, 2013.

Born Dec. 16, 1911, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Rev. E.F. Eagle and Edna Rose Ridenhour. Mr. Eagle was educated in Ellis and Boyden high schools. He retired from Southern Railway.

Mr. Eagle was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was very active. The church elected him "Man of the Year" in 1993. He served as deacon for 55 years and also in many other positions.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Edith Chunn Eagle; daughter Barbara Brown and husband Marcus of Salisbury; and grandson Mark David Brown of Asheville. Also surviving are his brothers, Bobby Eagle and wife Jean of Garner, Steve Eagle and wife Sue of Salisbury, Tony Eagle and wife Connie of Troutman and Norman Eagle and wife Jo Ann of Texas; and sister Susan Waters of Raleigh.

Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 15) at Summersett Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Rick Cockerham. Burial will follow the service at Rowan Memorial Park.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Baptist Children's Home, Thomasville, NC; and Calvary Baptist Church, Salisbury, NC.
