Ronald Dean Bowers

Ronald Dean Bowers, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Dean was born December 22, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Henry Floyd Bowers and the late Martha Jane Hatley Bowers. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Bowers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate his life will be on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 3:00 in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Joe Smith and grandson Rev. Brandon Bowers. The burial will follow at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, 24615 Endy Road, Albemarle. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley Juanita Morton Bowers of the home; son, Chris Bowers and wife Robin of Albemarle; daughters, Rhonda Morgan and husband Joe of New London, Angie Hudson and husband Kelly of Albemarle; sister, Noreda Bowers and husband Calvin of Albemarle; brother-in-law, Mickey Bowers of Albemarle; six grandchildren, Angel, Rachel, Charity, Torrey, Brandon, Trent; seven great grandchildren, Eli, Jenna, Colton, Ella, Elin, Tilley, Zeb; and one great great-grandchild, Luna.

Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was dedicated to the Lord and attended church as long as his health allowed. He helped to build Friendship Baptist Church in Stanfield, and was also the director of the bus ministry. Dean retired from Presbyterian Hospital in the maintenance department. He was a first class carpenter and gardener. Dean enjoyed fishing and wood working, specializing in bowl turning.
