Lester C. Overcash

SALISBURY - Lester Clarence Overcash, 83, formerly of Shuping Mill Road, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the North Carolina State Veterans Home.

Born Dec. 21, 1923, in Rowan County, Mr. Overcash was a son of the late Manlius Lee and Maggie Martha Deal Overcash. He attended Parks School and retired from Cannon Mills, Kannapolis.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a life-member of Organ Lutheran Church.

Mr. Overcash was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Sue Kiser Overcash; his stepmother, Ruth Castor Overcash; and sisters Gladys Wensil and Nellie Overcash.

Survivors include son Steve Overcash (Eunice) of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter Debbie Overcash Outen of Raleigh; stepdaughter Wanda Isenhour (Bobby) of Concord; brother Howard Overcash of Salisbury; sisters Wilma Sells of China Grove, Marguerite Shives of Belmont, Zelia Padgett and Claudette Brown of Salisbury; grandchildren Angie Sifford, Jeannie Davenport, Chris Outen, Nicholas, Tommy and Jeremy Overcash, Amanda Parnell (Josh), Jason and Jeffrey Isenhour; and five great-grandchildren.

Service: 10 am Saturday at Organ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Terrance Long officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8 tonight at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.

Memorials: Organ Lutheran Church; or Hospice and Palliative Care, Salisbury, NC.
