Margaret Goodman

CHARLOTTE - Margaret Beatrice Goodman, 87, of Charlotte, passed away Feb. 6, 2013, at White Oak Manor in Charlotte.

Mrs. Goodman was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Rowan County to the late Charlie Morgan and Fannie C. Morgan Morgan. Margaret attended Pond School, Morgan School and was a 1943 graduate of Rockwell High School. She worked for Cannon Mills and was a homemaker for most of her life.

Mrs. Goodman was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church in Gold Hill, where she was the pianist for many years, as well as the Bible School pianist.

Music was a large part of her life as well as gardening, canning and freezing vegetables. Margaret was also an avid quilter and was a member of WMU at East Corinth Baptist Church.

She was also proud to tell everyone that she married her childhood sweetheart, John David Goodman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John David Goodman; brothers and sisters Coy Morgan, Gilmer Morgan, Reather Morgan, Felix Morgan, Fred Morgan, Eva Sides and Mae Morgan.

Mrs. Goodman is survived by her daughter, Diana Elaine Goodman of Gold Hill; and her sister; Freda Brittian of Salisbury.

Visitation: Thursday Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home.

Service: Friday, Feb. 8 at 11 a.m. at East Corinth Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Kenneth Lance of First Baptist Church of Salisbury. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Corinth Baptist Church, 12510 Stokes Ferry Road, Gold Hill, NC 28071.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor and to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
