SALISBURY - Katherine Dorn Basinger, 93, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Born March 11, 1916, in Frankfort, Germany, she grew up and was educated overseas. She met her husband, Mr. Edward Sherrill Basinger, while he was stationed in Germany and they married and came back to the United States. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1984.
Mrs. Basinger was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and had worked at Rowan Regional Medical Center in the physical therapy department.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons Sherman Basinger (Peggy) of Dumfries, Va., Gary Basinger (Debbie) of Salisbury and Edward Basinger (Macon) of Sneeds Ferry; one daughter, Kathy Chambers (Jerry) of Knightdale; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Service and Visitation: A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at City Memorial Park with the Rev. Carrie Bishop, pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
