Notes for Ruby Iris Basinger
Ruby Bassinger Waisner

Ruby Bassinger Waisner, 76, of Albemarle passed away in CMC Main in Charlotte, NC on October 13.  Her funeral will be 12 Noon Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Luther’s Lutheran Church, Richfield with Rev. Tommy Beaver officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 11 AM until 12 Noon prior to the funeral service.

Ruby was born to Walter and Iris Basinger in Rowan County near Luther’s Lutheran Church, a church her father helped build. She was one of thirteen children. Ruby was preceded in death by six brothers, Alton, Clay, Ed, Tom, Emanuel, and Rogers; and by four sisters, Mamie Sides, Stella Kirk, and Ginny Pollizzi and Anne Henry.

Ruby is survived by her husband Alfred Dwain Waisner of the home.  Other survivors include sons Jeff Waisner (Kris) of Wadesboro and Charlie Waisner (Cindy) of Albemarle, two sisters Isabelle Roland of Salisbury and Claudine “Tunie” Hinson (Max) of Albemarle, and two granddaughters Grasyn Waisner and Cierra Waisner.

Ruby was a devoted mother and never missed a ballgame for her two sons. She was an avid Wingate baseball fan. She spent many timeless hours creating treasured memories at Charlie’s Grocery. Meeting new faces and making lifelong friendships at her son’s store was a way of life. She was a retired employee of the Stonewall Jackson Training School. Her true enjoyment came when she later worked at Stanly Community College, where the people she met became a part of her family she held dear to her heart. She was a dedicated, lifelong member of Luther’s Lutheran Church and had an unfailing faith. She spent much time gardening and creating bird havens at her home. She cherished the times she shared with her brothers and sisters. Ruby was married sixty years to her best friend, Dwain, who loves her beyond measure.

Memorials can be made to Luther’s Lutheran Church or to the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation.
