Richfield - Stella Mae Basinger Kirk, 89, of Richfield died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle. Mrs. Kirk was born on Sept. 18, 1917 in Richfield, a daughter of the late Walter M. Basinger and Iris Culp Basinger. Mrs. Kirk was a Richfield High School graduate, and was also a Salisbury Business College graduate. She had worked for Cannon Mills, Collins & Aikman, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Kirk was a member of Luther's Lutheran Church, and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of the Liberty Home Demonstration club, a charter board member of the Rowan County United way. Mrs. Kirk was a loving mother, grandmother, and a great cook.

Mrs. Kirk was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Kirk, Sr. who died on March 24, 1994; brothers, Ed Basinger, Rogers Basinger, Clay Basinger, Tom Basinger, and Alton Basinger and sisters, Mamie Sides and Jennie Polizzi.

Survivors include a son, Lee Roy Kirk, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Richfield; grandson, Caleb A. Kirk of Boone; brother, Emanuel C. Basinger of Richfield; sisters, Ruby Waisner, Isabelle Rowland, and Claudine Hinson, all of Albemarle and Anne Love Henry of New London and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: Will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Luther's Lutheran Church, Richfield with the Rev. Carol Yeager, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends a Powles Funeral Home on Friday, from

6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials: May be made to Luther's Lutheran Church.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Kirk family.
