Alma Hess Caster

FAITH - Alma "De-Daw" Hess Caster, 99, of 635 Eastview Road, died Saturday morning, March 1, 2008, at her residence.

Born July 6, 1908, in Rowan County to the late Thomas and Selena Ludwick Hess, she was educated in the Rowan County schools and had retired from Erik Anders of Salisbury. The oldest and a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mrs. Caster was also a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Alexander Caster, Sr., in 1996; a daughter, Gilda C. Holbrooks; and a son, Bill Caster.

Survivors include a son Glenn A. "Poosal" Caster, Jr. (Helen) of Faith, daughter Jean C. Earnhardt (Jim) of Cleveland; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Monday at Linn-Honeycutt in China Grove. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Service: Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Ginn, pastor, and Rev. Keith Copeland. The body will in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Building Fund, Faith, NC.
