Ethel Lyerly Peeler
FAITH - Ethel Lyerly Peeler, 85, formerly of Faith, went to her heavenly home Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Alston Brook in Lexington.
Born June 22, 1926, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Sally Miller Lyerly.
Educated in Rockwell schools, Mrs. Peeler worked as a seamstress for Leisure Lads and Carolina Maid.
A member of Shiloh Reformed Church, she was in the Ladies Bible Class.
Mrs. Peeler enjoyed cooking for family and friends, gardening and crafts. She loved to quilt, having made one for each of her grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, John Monroe Peeler, Jr., who died July 6, 1999.
Those left to cherish her memories are daughters Rickie Price (Alfred) and Cathy Shive (Darrell); sisters Ruth Lyerly and Margaret Alsobrooks, all of Salisbury; grandchildren Kendal Cline (Douglas) of Salisbury, Karla Lerner (Josh) of Beech Mountain, Brooke Ray (Jeff) of Coinjock, Jonathan Shive (Amber) of Salisbury; and great-grandchildren Jace and Kailey Cline, Morgan and Hayden Ray.
Visitation: 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Shiloh Reformed Church, 100 S. Main St., Faith, NC.
Service: 11:30 a.m. following the visitation in the church sanctuary, with the Rev. Wayne Trexler and the Rev. Gary Coble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shiloh Reformed Church, P.O. Box 308, Faith, NC 28041; or St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Family Life Center, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
The family would like to thank the staff of Alston Brook who have become our family and friends for life; for their loving care, compassion and comfort given Mrs. Peeler, during her six-year residency.
