Frances A. Holshouser

SALISBURY - Frances Jane Archie Holshouser, 82, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since January 2004.

Mrs. Holshouser was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Abe A. Archie and Fannie Parks Archie. She was educated in Rowan County schools and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell.

Mrs. Holshouser had been employed at Dolly Madison Industries and retired from the housekeeping department of Rowan Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lonnie Morgan, on April 5, 1983; her second husband, Maurise Holshouser, on Nov. 2, 1966; son John Adam Morgan on Sept. 30, 1997; brothers James "Jay" Archie and Oscar Archie; and sister Burley A. McNeely.

Surviving are two sons, Melvin Morgan and wife Gaynelle of Salisbury and Robert Morgan of China Grove; granddaughter Robin Julian and husband Jeffrey of Salisbury; two great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

Service: The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Craig Sigmon, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will be at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell from 6-7:30 tonight.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Building Fund, Rockwell, NC.
