Gene A. Trexler

Gene A. Trexler, 74, of Lexington passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born March 23, 1942 in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Fannie McBride Trexler and Lewis E. Trexler, Sr.

He was educated in the Salisbury schools and graduated from North Rowan High School, Class of 1962.

He was a grounds keeper for Catawba College before retiring. Prior to that, he was employed as a Lab Technician for NC Finishing Company for 20 years and as Frozen Food Manager for Winn Dixie for 14 years.

He was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church, Lexington and enjoyed songwriting and singing at various churches.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Honeycutt Trexler whom he married December 24, 1967; son, Kevin Lee Trexler and wife Jen of Rockwell; daughters, Amy Trexler Ketchie and significant other, Danny Joyce of Salisbury and Robin Trexler Snider and husband Kensell of Lexington; brothers, Lewis E. “Buddy” Trexler, Jr. and Roy C. Trexler both of Salisbury; grandchildren, Fuller Steven Ketchie, Landon Bradley Ketchie, Savannah Lynn Snider and Myleigh Reece Snider.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 6 PM – Friday (Oct. 21) at Higher Ground Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Green officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
