Edith Cauble Holshouser

Edith Emma Laverne Cauble Holshouser, 95, of 132 Pine Ridge Rd., went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2016.

Edith was born on April 17, 1921 in Rowan County to the late Charlie Franklin and Vertie Ribelin Cauble. She was educated in Rowan County Schools and retired from Cannon Mills Co, Plant 1 after 41 years as a weaver. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell and The Young At Heart Club.

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her first husband Clayton Wilburn Holshouser on March 17, 1987; sisters, Melvarine Stogner and Willie Boger; and brothers, Clifford, Raymond, John, Robert, and Vernon Cauble.

She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Page (Dennis) of Mocksville; one son, Mitchell "Mickey" Holshouser (Nancy) of Rockwell; two sisters, Zarah Plyer of Salisbury and Ruth Driver (Harold) of Rockwell; three brothers, Arnold (Anna Rose), Gene (Edith), and Jake Cauble, all of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Paul Holshouser, Matthew Page (Ruth), and Scott Page; and 5 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Bryson, Timmy and Lily Page and Aleigha Jones (Kyle).

Edith's second husband, Cletus Dry, died on July 28, 1997. Survivors include: one step-daughter, Varah Moose (Willard) of Mt. Pleasant; two step-sons, Bobby (Agnes) and Marvin (Shelia) Dry, both of Gold Hill; and step-grand and great-grandchildren.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pastor Sheeks, visitors, doctors and the staff, nurses, and CNAs at The Laurels of Salisbury for their loving care of our Mother, Edith Holshouser. And to Tiffany, who held a special place in Mother's heart, for your love and compassion, it truly meant a lot to our family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 9:30-11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2070 Emmanuel Church Rd in Rockwell. A service will follow visitation in the church at 11 am, with Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
