SALISBURY - Vernon Lee Cauble, 92, of Salisbury, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cauble was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Rowan County, son of the late Charlie Franklin Cauble and Vertie Ribelin Cauble. He was educated in Rowan County schools and retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills Plant 1.

A member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, he was a former church council member, choir member, taught youth Sunday School for many year, and was a member of the Good News Sunday School Class.

Mr. Cauble was also a member of St. Matthew's Senior Citizens Club for many years. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved all types of music and played many instruments. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Cauble was preceded in death by his devoted spouse of 64 years, Mrs. Evelyn Morgan Cauble, whom he married Aug. 31, 1940.

Survivors include daughter Mrs. Carolyn C. Brown and son-in-law Howard Brown Jr. of Salisbury; granddaughter Lisa Carole Brown of Salisbury; brothers Arnold, Gene and Jake Cauble of Salisbury; sisters Edith Holshouser and Ruth Driver, both of Rockwell, and Zarah Plyler of Salisbury.

Service: 4 pm Sunday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Gary Coble, pastor, with burial at Church Cemetery.

Visitation: At the Church Fellowship Building from 2:30-4 pm Sunday.

Memorials: Donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
