Margaret Bostian Brown

GRANITE QUARRY - Margaret Bostian Brown, 94, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at Northeast Medical Center, Concord.

Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 31, 1912 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Columbus Sloan Bostian and Maude Lee Boles Bostian. Mrs. Brown was educated in the Gold Knob School and was a life member of Christiana Lutheran Church, former member of the Ladies Missionary Group, member of the Jenny Thomas Bible Class, helped with Bible School and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Mrs. Brown had retired from Rowan Industries. After retiring she worked at Ruby's Cut & Curl.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Joseph "Cap'n" Brown who passed away on Jan. 6, 1998 and a brother Clarence Bostian who passed away on Sept. 25, 1980.

Survivors include son, Ray Richard "Little Man" Brown and wife, Debbie of Granite Quarry; daughter, Camille B. "Cookie" Abernathy and husband Gene of Granite Quarry; sisters, Kate Lingle of Granite Quarry, Mary Frances "Teetle" Trexler of Salisbury; brothers, Ray "Bud" Bostian of Salisbury and Bill Bostian of Richfield; granddaughter, Boni Brown Lowry and husband Scott of Granite Quarry and great-grandchildren, Carlee, Michael Jr., and Ainslee Lowry of Granite Quarry.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. tonight at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell. The remainder of the time the family will be at the home of her daughter, Camille B. "Cookie" Abernathy.

Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury, conducted by Rev. Carl Haynes, Pastor. Mrs. Brown will lie in state 30 min. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: Christiana Lutheran Church.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is serving the Brown family.
