SALISBURY - Troy Lee Holshouser, 62, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He had been in declining health for a number of years, but death was unexpected.

Born March 2, 1945, in Rowan County, Mr. Holshouser was a son of the late Clay James Holshouser and Evelyn Oveda Jackson Holshouser. A U.S. Army veteran, he had served during the Vietnam Era in Germany. He was employed for a number of years with Celanese Industries until he became disabled in 1984.

Mr. Holshouser was a member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher. He was known for having a great sense of humor and enjoying life. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by brothers Larry Dean, Thomas Lynn and Charles Marshall Holshouser.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Frankie Beaver Holshouser; sons Damian Holshouser and wife Carla of Faith and Dawain Holshouser of Faith; grandchildren Courtney, McKenzie, Zachery and Brycen Holshouser, Matthew Reaves, Andrew Reaves and wife Sayra and Kendra Bell; great-grandson Andrew Reaves Jr. and loyal and loving pet K.C.; brothers Jake and wife Betty Holshouser, William "Buck" Holshouser, Kenneth and wife Judy Holshouser, Bobby and wife Esther Holshouser, Terry and wife Bonnie Holshouser and Bill Holshouser; sisters Louise and husband L.A. Johnson, Annie Mae and husband Delmar Johnson, Doris Burris and Mary Karriker; and sister-in-law Brenda Holshouser.

Service: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Randy Lucas and the Rev. Billy Ervin officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Salisbury National Cemetery with military graveside rites.

Visitation: 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary contributions be made to the family for medical expenses.
