Mavis Frick Wilson

SALISBURY - Mavis Frick Wilson, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Lewis Frick and Nannie Yost Frick. Educated in Salisbury schools, she graduated from Boyden High School and Catawba College.

Mrs. Wilson was a school teacher in Claymont Special School District, Claymont, Del., for 28 years before retiring.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, once serving on the Home Bound Committee, and was a member of national, state and local education associations in Delaware.

Her husband, W.A. Wilson, preceded her in death on May 10, 1974; and her sister, Dorothy Frick Dickens, died April 16, 2000.

Survivors include a cousin, Loretta T. Eagle of Richfield; special friends Ann Lawson Ratliff of Jacksonville, Ala., and formerly of Salisbury, Jean Parrish Dinkins of Clemmons and Donna Parrish of Charleston, S.C.

Service: A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at City Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lance, minister of First Baptist Church of Salisbury, officiating.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mrs. Mavis Frick Wilson may be given to First Baptist Church of Salisbury, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
