Alma Misenheimer

Mrs. Alma Brown Misenheimer, 90, of Rockwell, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Novant Health-Rowan Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1923 in Faith to the late Dr. Clarence E. and Mary Beaver Brown.

Alma was a 1940 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. She worked for Paul Bost Trucking for a short time and retired from Wachovia Bank and Trust Company after 30+ years in 1986.

A member of Faith Lutheran Church, Alma was a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years. She was also a member of Louise Morgan WELCA, of which she was also a past president.

Alma was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Rockwell for over 50 years and was a member of the Rockwell Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Lee Misenheimer, who passed away March 21, 1991; an infant son, who passed away October 23, 1964; and son, Eric Gordon Misenheimer, who passed away October 22, 2002.

Alma is survived by her daughter, Jane M. Kirks and husband, Allen, of China Grove; three grandchildren, Kelly Kirks Baxter and husband, Adam of Concord, Matthew A. Kirks and wife, Jennifer of Charlotte, and Amy Misenheimer of Kill Devil Hills; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jayden, Kaylee, Leeland, Skyler, Helena, and Caroline; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 19, from 12:30 to 1:45 PM in the Family Life Center at Faith Lutheran Church.

The service will be held at 2:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Randy Conley, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church-Family Life Center Debt Reduction Fund.
