Hazel B. Shive

SALISBURY - Hazel Bost Shive, 87, of Salisbury passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Mrs. Shive was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Zeb L. and Agnes Smith Bost.

A 1943 graduate of Rockwell High School, Mrs. Shive was a talented seamstress and managed Doris's Fabric Shop in Rockwell. Later in life, she worked at Lambert's Jewelry Store in North Kannapolis as a Sales Associate.

Mrs. Shive was a member of Grace Lowerstone Church and was very active in the church where she was President of the Women's Guild and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She enjoyed being a seamstress and also being with her family. Mrs. Shive was an avid doll collector.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shive was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim B. Fisher; her second husband, Kyle Shive; brothers George F. Bost, Jim L. Bost, Paul M. Bost, Hoyt Bost; and sister Mary Lee Agner.

Mrs. Shive is survived by her daughter, Kathy Grubb of Salisbury; son Allen Fisher and wife Kathey of Salisbury; stepson Larry Shive and wife Kaye of Kannapolis; stepson Gary Shive and wife Jayne of Concord; brothers Zeb T. Bost of Gold Hill, R. Wayne Bost of Salisbury; and sister Annie Belle Brown of Rockwell.

Mrs. Shive is also survived by grandchildren James Kincaid, Wendy Shelby and husband David, Kevin Grubb, Kari Eller and husband Justin, Garrett Fisher and wife Mariana, Kelly Hargett, Amy Borras, Christy Conrad; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grace Lowerstone Church.

Service: The funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lowerstone Church conducted by Rev. Spencer Swain, pastor. Burial will follow in Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: May be made to Grace Lowerstone Church.
