Yorke William “Shorty”Ridenhour

Yorke William “Shorty”Ridenhour, 88, of Rockwell died Monday, January 23, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ridenhour was born September 5, 1917 in Rowan County, son of the late William R. Ridenhour and Martha Ridenhour. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, and graduated from Rockwell High School.

Mr. Ridenhour was a life member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, former Church Council member, and former Usher. Mr. Ridenhour has worked for Cannon Mills, Heist-McCain Hosiery Mills and retired from Tidwell Mobile Homes as a deliveryman.

Mr. Ridenhour was an avid baseball fan, attending Rowan County American Legion games for 41 years without missing a game. He was also an avid baseball fan with the East Rowan baseball team.

His wife, Mrs. Ruby Brown Ridenhour, who died September 15, 1976, also a grandson, Todd Ridenhour who died June 18, 2002, preceded Mr. Ridenhour in death.

Survivors are, one son, James William “Bill” Ridenhour of Rockwell, NC and one brother, Hubert Ridenhour of Rockwell, NC. Two stepgrandchhildren, Mitzi Hall of Rockwell, NC and Mandy Hoagland of Salisbury, NC. And one great grandchild, Madison Hall of Rockwell, NC

Funeral Service for Mr. Ridenhour will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Sheeks, Pastor, with burial in the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Immanuel Lutheran Church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
