Notes for Betty Jo Sprinkle
Betty Jo Sprinkle Shaver

Betty Jo Sprinkle Shaver, of Salisbury, NC, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016 At Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born in Davie County on October 21, 1932, Betty was the daughter of the late John & Ottie Sprinkle.

Betty was an enthusiastic and self-driven person. For example, she says, “I was the baby of the family until my little brother came along. So I decided to fix that little problem and sold him to the neighbors for a dime. I figured all he did was cry and poop anyway!” That was the start of her strong will.

She worked for the Rowan County School System. During that time she saw a tremendous need; therefore she started an enrichment center for children too handicapped to attend public school. She applied and received Federal grants for the center to aid in its creation and success.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank B. Shaver; sons: Barry & Ivan Shaver; brother: Johnny Sprinkle and sisters: Margaret Frye and Helen Williams.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law and caregiver Vivian Sprinkle, three nephews, four nieces and numerous other family members.

A special thank you to the employees and staff at Autumn Care for their wonderful care of Betty.
