Ruth Coley Peeler

SALISBURY - Ruth Coley Peeler, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 6, 1921, in Stanly County, daughter of the late Bart Jerome Coley and Lillian Creighton Coley.

Ruth graduated from Rockwell High School (Class of 1939) and completed the Lowrance School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years and worked at Rowan Hospital and later as a private duty nurse.

She was a member of St. Luke's Reformed Church for over 68 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Bernard Peeler; sibling Shirley Ritchie, Marie Corn, Barbara Earnhardt, Craig Coley, Claude Coley, Earl Coley and Ray Coley.

Those left to cherish her memories are sons Gregory (Trudy) Peeler Sr. of Charlotte and Winston Peeler of Salisbury; daughter Wanda Riley of Salisbury; sisters Jewell Elium of Winston-Salem and Frances Thompson of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren Adrian Peeler Moore, Joshua Michael Peeler, Joseph Christian Peeler and G. Michael Peeler Jr.; and great-grandchild Zoe Elizabeth Moore.

Visitation: 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at St. Luke's Reformed Church.

Service: 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 at St. Luke's Reformed Church, the Dr. Allen Tyndall and Dr. Johnny Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.

Memorials: May be given to St. Luke's Reformed Church.
