Clarence G. Trexler
SALISBURY - Clarence G. Trexler, 97, of Salisbury, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Trexler was born Nov. 30, 1908, in Rowan County, a son of the late Murry and Carrie Earnhardt Trexler. He was a 1929 graduate of Rockwell High School and attended Catawba College. He retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 as the head loom fixer after 50 years. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, where he was Sunday School teacher for the Men 's Class for 40 years, was a former Church Council member and had served on many committees.
Mr. Trexler was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Basinger Trexler, on Aug. 24, 1992; son Clarence Gilbert "Butch" Trexler on Nov. 10, 1983; brothers L. Paul Trexler, Earl Trexler and Frank Trexler; and sisters Pearl Trexler and Edith Brown.
Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn T. Lyerly and husband Wilbert of Charlotte and Phyllis T. Freeze and husband Joe of Salisbury; sisters Kathleen Abernathy of Salisbury and Geraldine Miller of Rockwell; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service : Funeral Services will be conducted at St. Peters Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. David Ridenhour, pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation : The family will be at Powles Funeral Home from 7-8:30 tonight.
Memorials : Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 2570 St. Peters Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
