GOLD HILL - Elmer Sylvester Wyatt, 81 of Gold Hill died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at the Autumn Care of Salisbury.
Mr. Wyatt was born Oct. 7, 1924 in Rowan County to the late Harvey Sylvester Wyatt and Minnie Arey Wyatt. He was educated at Richfield High School. Mr. Wyatt retired after 30 years of service with Cannon Mills, Plant # 1 in Kannapolis as a Fixer and as a picker hand. He farmed most of his life. Mr. Wyatt was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church where he held various positions within the Church. Mr. Wyatt was also a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife Blanche Hough Wyatt, who he married Nov. 29, 1947; two sons Larry E. Wyatt and Tommy Lee Wyatt both of Gold Hill; one sister Louise Watkins of Satellite Beach, Fla.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Zion United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Marion Fulk, Pastor. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial: Church Cemetery.
Visitation: 3-5 p.m. today, Powles Funeral Home and at the residence the remainder of the time.
Memorials: Zion United Methodist Church.
