Cletus Melvin Bost, Sr.

CONCORD -- Mr. Bost, of 1545 Chadmore Lane, died Sunday, January 9, 2005 of complications from pneumonia after fighting multiple myeloma for 6 years.

Services will be Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Todd Hobbie and Rev. Leslie Piper will officiate. A private graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. The Bost family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. At other times they will meet at the home, 1545 Chadmore Lane, Concord.

Mr. Bost was born October 17, 1920 in Cabarrus County to the late George J. Bost and Bessie Brown Bost. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and North Carolina State University. He taught Vocational Agriculture for 2 years, prior to becoming a commissioned officer in the US Naval Reserve where he served on board a heavy cruiser, USS St. Paul in the South Pacific and ashore in Japan and China. He retired from Ford Motor Company as service manager for the Southeastern Region Tractor Division after 30 years of service.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Concord, where he served on the Church Session, a pastoral Nominating Committee and was a member of the Blanche Stewart Sunday school class and Presbyterian Men. He served 6 years on the Hospice Board of Directors and 6 years on the Board of Directors of Westbury Low Cost Housing Project. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Bost.

Cletus was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Stegall Bost; son, Cletus Melvin Bost, Jr. and wife Linda of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter, Christina Bost Seaton and husband Michael, NY City; brother, John L. Bost of Rockwell; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, or Hospice of Cabarrus County.

Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord is serving the Bost family.
