GOLD HILL - Mrs. Billie Jean Austin Goodman, 74, of Gold Hill died June 7, 2007 at the Davis Regional Medical Center, Statesville.
Mrs. Goodman was born April 20, 1933 in Yancey County, daughter of the late Joe Austin and Ella Mae Austin. Mrs. Goodman was educated in the Yancey County Schools, worked for Cannon Mills in the Rockwell Plant and retired after over 30 years of service. Mrs. Goodman worked as a sweeper. She was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Eli Franklin Goodman.
Survivors include her son, Randy Franklin Goodman and wife Katherine of China Grove; daughter Cheryl Lynn Cothern of Tenn.; two brothers, Bruce Austin and Ned Austin of Burnsville; three sisters, Ruth Badane of N.J. and Pansey Robinson and Thelma Westall of Burnsville and four grandchildren also survive.
Service: The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the East Corinth Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Daniel, Pastor, with burial in the Church cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends at the East Corinth Baptist Church from 1-2 p.m. Sunday.
