Wayne Kepley

Robert "Wayne" Kepley, Sr., 68 of Rockwell passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Wayne was born on October 26, 1946 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Roy and Dorothy Hartsell Kepley.

Wayne attended Harrisburg High School. He worked for South China Grove Cotton Mill, for Jim Bost Construction as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, and then retired from Lane Contracting.

Wayne was a member of Grace Lower Stone Church. He enjoyed lawnmower pulls, playing the guitar, playing horseshoes and fishing. Wayne loved being with wife Linda, his children and grandchildren who he loved playing with.

In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by a brother, JC Kepley; and sisters, Ethel Barringer, Edna Roach and Laura Smith.

Survivors: Wayne is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Linda File Kepley, who he married on February 5, 1966. Sons, Robert Kepley and wife Tammy, Richard Kepley and wife Leslie and Randall Kepley all of Rockwell. Daughters, Ronda Rummage and husband Chris of Gold Hill, and Rachelle Wagoner and husband Josh of Rockwell. Grandchildren, Aaron, Brittany, Katie, Elane, Dale, Jessica, Lacie, Rayla and Bryan. Brothers, Lloyd "Short" Kepley and wife Shirley of Salisbury, Larry Kepley of New London, Calvin Kepley wife Shelby of Rockwell, and Ray Kepley and wife Gayle of Mt. Pleasant. Sisters, Faye Gobble of Florida, Peggy McCluskey of New London, and Barbara Langston of Warsaw, SC; and a special little girl, Drew Lefler. Wayne is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Powles Funeral Home.

Service: The Funeral Service will be at Grace Lower Stone Church on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 4:00 PM, conducted by Rev. Darrell Maxwell Interim Pastor. Mr. Kepley will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lower Stone Church Kitchen Fund.
