Louise Miller Yost

ROCKWELL - Louise Miller Yost, age 91, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday Jan. 30, 2010.

She was born in Rowan County April 25, 1918, to the late Esther Fisher and Charles A. Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray McKinley Yost, and brother Mayford Miller.

Educated in Rowan County schools, she received a degree in Home Economics from Pfeiffer University. She retired from Rowan-Salisbury School System as a Food Service Manager at Erwin Middle School.

Louise was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir, Sunday School and Women of ELCA. She was Worship and Music chairman for 15 years. Ray and Louise led the Evangelism Committee for many years.

Louise is remembered as one who was always considerate of the feelings of other people and never spoke an unkind word. She was fun-loving and witty, an excellent playmate for her grandchildren. Louise enjoyed gardening, summer canning, cooking and sharing with others. She leaves a legacy of love for her church and family.

She is survived by sons Danny Yost and wife Brenda of Morganton, Donny Yost and wife Jeannie of Rockwell; daughter Patty Yost and husband Mike of Granite Quarry; grandchildren Jennifer Winburn and husband Michael, Crystal Bazemore and husband Steve, Philip Yost and wife Erin, Meredith Yost, Alex Yost, Jason Draper and wife Kim; and 11 great-grandchildren. One brother, Leo Miller, also survives.
