Sue Deese Almond

Sue Deese Almond, 83, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her home in Albemarle.

Sue was born November 22, 1937 in North Carolina to the late Hurley Deese and the late Kathleen Deese.  She was also preceded in death by sisters, Janet Cassell and Shirley Bowen.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will immediately follow on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Dr. Phil McRae. Burial will follow at the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery , 24615 Endy Rd, Albemarle.

Survivors include husband, Donald "Gene" Almond of Albemarle; children, Danny Michael (Rhonda) Almond, Ginger Almond (finacé Leamond "Bubba" Braley) Love; grandchildren, Suzann Almond, Matthew (Tabitha) Almond, Brandy (Russell) Strawn, Adrian (fiancé Daniel Ridenhour) Love; great-grandchildren, Jacob Watkins, Jaden Watkins, Brady Ridenhour, Zachary Almond, Ariel Almond, Waylon Strawn, Hank Strawn; and sister, Carol (Jim) Hitchens of Wilmington, DE.

Sue was a lifelong member of Canton Baptist Church. She worked at Knitsters Textile for over 25 years until she retired and then worked as secretary for Almond Electric and Heating. Sue was a loving grandmother and enjoyed taking care of all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved baking and made the best pound cake you've ever tasted. She also enjoyed working on her flowers and in her vegetable garden.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital, Canton Baptist Church, or Hospice of Stanly County & the Uwharrie.
