Billie Parker Alexander
Mrs. Billie Parker Alexander, 87, of Salisbury, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Born March 21, 1930 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Munford Parker and Corrie Beeker Parker.
Mrs. Alexander was educated in the Salisbury schools and graduated from Boyden High School, Class of 1949. She attended Catawba College and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
She was employed for Rowan Distributing Company for over 30 years before retiring in 1997.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and a former member of the Sports Car Club of Salisbury. She had a love for animals and adopted many strays. She was an artist that enjoyed painting and sketching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee “Dick” Alexander on November 7, 2002, sisters, Mabel Parker, Bea Parker Griffin, and Amelia “Doll” Parker Lingle; and brother, Lloyd Parker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, John Buford and wife Kris of Spencer; niece, Trace Lingle Stewart and husband Rev. Norman Stewart of Columbia, SC; nephew, John Todd Lingle and wife Darlene of Matthews.
A Graveside Service will be conducted 11 AM – Saturday (Oct. 14) at Rowan Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Larry Summey officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Spencer Presbyterian Church.
