Ray Harrison

Joseph Rayvon “Ray” Harrison, 69, of Richfield, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born November 3, 1948, in Denton to the late Joseph Odell Harrison and Cora Duke Harrison.

Mr. Harrison was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Salisbury where he served as a Deacon, played guitar in worship, and assisted with Bible School. He was a man of many trades spanning from driving a truck, being a carpenter, to an auto body mechanic. He enjoyed traveling to Pigeon Forge, deep sea fishing at the coast, his lawn mower and mowing yards, and his pick-up trucks. He dearly loved his family and the Lord.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin, Chuck, Kenny, and Steve Harrison.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky Lee Harrison, whom he married January 24, 1969, sons, Timothy Ray Harrison and wife, Lisa, of Salisbury, Jamie Lee Harrison and wife, Jessica, of Richfield, and Nathaniel Lynn Harrison of Richfield, brother, Jessie Harrison, sisters, Diane Honeycutt, Rosa King, Kathy Stubbs, Barbara Jean Southard, Becky Bailey, Trisha Coffer, and Teresa Pruitt, grandchildren, Brittany Howell, Dylan, Cora, Tyler, Dawson, Katie, Bryan, Lee, and Timothy Harrison, and one soon to be expected great-grandchild, Joseph Ray Almond.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM on Wednesday, November 22 at Eastside Baptist Church in Salisbury. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church, conducted by Rev. Joe Black and Dale King. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharrie.
