Glenn E. Hinson

Glenn E. Hinson passed away at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center Main in Charlotte on Saturday, April 29, at the age of 78.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Vernie Hartsell Hinson.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda Kennedy Hinson; his daughter, Glenda Hinson Bebber; her husband, Matt; his grandson, William Greyson Bebber; and two sisters, Colette Shaver (Ernie) of Locust and Rebecca Philemon (Larry) of New Salem; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Glenn was born in Albemarle, N.C., on March 12, 1945. He graduated from West Stanly High School in 1963 and went on to complete a number of courses at Stanly Community College, as well as earned several certificates. Glenn served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan and Korea during the Vietnam War. He worked 18 years for Lum’s Body Shop as the shop foreman, and retired from Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, Plastics Division, after 25 years.

Glenn loved to spend time with family, particularly his grandson. He also enjoyed keeping busy by repairing and restoring vehicles, fixing anything that broke, tending to his cattle, farming, gardening, hunting, and fishing.

The visitation will be held at Stanly Funeral Home in Locust on Tuesday, May 2, from 6-8 p.m.

The celebration of life service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Locust on Wednesday, May 3, at 3 p.m., with Reverend Brian Bolding officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
