Carolyn Poplin Hefner
Carolyn Poplin Hefner, 80, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Forrest Oakes Healthcare Center in Albemarle.
Carolyn was born October 22, 1942 in North Carolina to the late Robert Edward Poplin and the late Laura Frances Howell Poplin.
She was also preceded in death by brother, Larry (Donna) Poplin.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Paul's Crossing Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at Paul's Crossing Baptist Church in Richfield officiated by Rev. Marc Sessions and Rev. Dwight Huffman. Burial will follow at the Matton's Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery at 24732 Matton's Grove Church Road in Richfield.
Survivors include daughter, Lisa (Roy) Shepherd of Richfield, NC; grandchildren, Adrian (Kristen) Shepherd and Robyn (Ronald Vang) Shepherd; and brother, Dwight (Brenda) Poplin.
Carolyn loved planting flowers - her favorites were buttercups and dogwoods. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the birds and fishing (especially on Easter Monday). Carolyn liked eating popcorn and chocolate and sipping her tea with LOTS of lemon. Her favorite color was green, she listened to Elvis music often, and her hobbies included driving to Dollar General in Richfield multiple times a day and eating supper at Richfield park. Carolyn loved holiday traditions such as dying Easter eggs and going to see Christmas lights. The highlight of her week was always spending time with family.
