Barbara Heglar Johnson
On January 23, 2023, Barbara Heglar Johnson went to be with her Lord and Savior. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Louella Heglar, siblings JB Heglar and Louise Heglar, all of whom she adored.
Barbara was a native of Rowan County NC. Being a military wife brought her to the Fort Benning, Columbus, GA and Phenix City, AL area. She spent her adult life there as a Gold Star Wife, and an employee of the Columbus Health department. Milton, GA became her home during the last few years of her life. With everyone she met, Barbara was kind, caring and giving to a fault. She loved her church family at Evangel Temple and enjoyed serving there. She was a passionate nature lover and enjoyed her time volunteering at the Butterfly House in Callaway Gardens.
Barbara would want to be remembered as a devoted Christian, loyal friend and animal lover. Some of our best living is done through those we leave behind. Those are her children, Ricky (Jean) Sherrill and Karen Eskew, siblings Joyce Heglar Risden and Bill (Lydia) Helgar, grands Rob Eskew Jr, Sara (Cole) Pace, Jeff (Catrina) Sherrill, Kristy (Adam) Bartholomew, great grandchildren, great great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Arrangements: A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ida Cason Callaway Chapel in Callaway Gardens on April 3, 2023, with Pastor Bud Rupel officiating.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her church home Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Columbus, GA., or donation of time at your local humane society. Lastly she'd love a blood donation to the American Red Cross.
