Robert “Bob” Glenn Stoner, Jr.
Robert “Bob” Glenn Stoner, Jr. passed away on September 15, 2023 in Fort Mill, SC.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 18 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery in Salisbury, NC at 11 am.
Bob was born to the late Freda Shepherd Stoner and Robert Glenn Stoner, Sr. on December 17, 1942. He graduated from East Rowan High School in 1961 and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Christina “Tina” Rose on June 9, 1963.
Bob received his Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in Chemistry from NC State University. He worked in textiles R&D and spent the majority of career at Springs Industries. He grew up on a farm and many of his collections were reminiscent of that upbringing; he collected tractors, hammers, model trains, guns, walking canes, and more. In retirement, he helped his wife run Stonerhaven Kennels, which was well-known and respected for breeding, training, and showing Shetland Sheepdogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Freda and Robert Stoner, Sr. and his wife Tina.
Bob is survived by his sons Glenn Christopher Stoner (Beth) and Greg Robert Stoner (Angela); granddaughters, Merisa D. Stoner and Kristina K. Stoner; and brother Thomas E. Stoner.
Arrangements are by Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell, NC.
