Thursday, August 9, 2007 — Carrie Ellen “Mom” Hatley Linker, 93, of Mt. Pleasant went to meet her Lord and Savior Aug. 7, 2007. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miami Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor Chris Hawks and Pastor Faye McRorie. Burial will follow at Center Grove United Methodist Church, 8005 NC Hwy 200. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gordon Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Carrie was a homemaker and lived on a farm at 2191 Mt. Pleasant Road North, Concord, for 60 years, until she became ill. Then she went to live with her oldest granddaughter, Faye McRorie, and her husband, Phillip, at 1837 Cline School Road, Concord. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She touched many lives and cared for and helped raise many of her grandchildren. Mom will be missed and her memories will always be cherished. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts and working in the yard with all her beautiful flowers. Reading was her favorite pasttime. We want to thank Cannon Memorial Library Book Mobile for bringing books to her home for the past 20 years. She attended Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church for many years until her health declined. Born Nov. 20, 1913, in Stanly County, Carrie was the fourth child born to the late Channie G. and Lillie Almond Hatley. She was preceded in death by her husband Aaron A. Linker, whom she married Aug. 9, 1930; also, a son Kendall R. Linker, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her three sons, Ray of the home, Gene and Dennis Linker of Mt. Pleasant, and her five daughters, Ruth Barrier and her husband, Bill, of Mt. Pleasant, Polly Teal of Albemarle, Frances Kanipe and husband, Tim Gaines, of Kannapolis, Linda Kay Bittle and her husband, Junior, of Mt. Pleasant and Cathy Sue Tucker of China Grove. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren; one brother Coy Hatley of Locust, and one sister, Cora H. Barnhardt of Kannapolis. The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for taking such great care of our loved one during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
