James David Miller

James David Miller, 79, of Gold Hill, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. He was born August 14, 1938, in Cabarrus County to the late Earl James Miller and Mary Hill Miller.

Mr. Miller attended Richfield School and worked at Cannon Mills for many years before going to work for Hammill Construction Company, from where he retired. He enjoyed gospel quartets and traveling to their performances, going to the mountains, and woodworking projects, especially bird houses.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Miller and two sons, Larry Eugene Miller and Jerry Wayne Miller.

He is survived by his children, James Ray Miller of Gold Hill, Ronald David Miller and wife, Tammy, of Rockwell, and Barbara Miller Hurley and husband, Robert, of Gold Hill, sister, Margaret Owensby of Rockwell, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends and relatives from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, November 20, in St. Paul's Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Gold Hill, conducted by Pastor Ray Johnson.

Memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.
