Dewey Lee Sides
Dewey Lee Sides, 86, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021.
He was born August 8, 1934, in Rowan County to the late Luther and Mary Ann Morgan Sides. Mr. Sides attended Morgan School and Rockwell High School. He was employed with H. Flora Steel in Salisbury where he was a welder helping construct water towers and helped with the steel framework at East Rowan High School. Mr. Sides also worked at Wink's BBQ where he was known as "Hotdog" and later Jim's BBQ. He was an easy going and loving personality who especially loved his grandchildren. Mr. Sides enjoyed wrestling, racing, and going to Waffle House where they named his usual scrambled egg and tomato sandwich "The Dewey Sandwich."
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Brown Sides.
Mr. Sides is survived by his children, Johnny Lee Sides, Bonnie Sides Graham, Terry Lee Sides, and Sherry Sides Kesler; siblings, Louise Hellard, Sue Clark, and Gilbert Sides; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends and relatives Monday, April 12, 2021, 10:00-10:45 am at Nazareth Community Church in Rockwell.
The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Monday, at the church, with Pastor Mike Shoaf officiating.
Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.
