Glenn Luther Sides
DURHAM - Glenn Luther Sides, 73, of Durham, went home to be with the Lord on Monday (Sept. 5, 2005).
Born and reared in Rowan County, Mr. Sides was a son of the late Daniel Luther and Mary Ann Morgan Sides . He had been a resident of Durham since 1944 and was employed for several years with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
Mr. Sides was the owner and operator of Dixie Flag Service. He was a member of the Durham Masonic Lodge 352, of which he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and was a member of the Sudan Temple.
Glenn was dedicated in life to helping others.
Mr. Sides is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Jenkins Sides; brothers John Ervin Sides of Gold Hill, Gilbert Sides of Thomasville and Dewey Sides and Daniel Sides, both of Salisbury; sisters Dellie Miller, Louise Hellard and Stella Sides of Salisbury and Sue Clark of Sanford.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sides was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Sides.
Service : A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Howerton & Bryan Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Edward Johnson and Pastor Curtis Poole. Burial will follow with Masonic Rites at Maplewood Cemetery, Section 16. Flowers will be accepted.
