James “Jim” Douglas Helms passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Atrium Health Stanly.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 8, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Gene Hopkins will officiate. Interment will follow in Silver Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
Jim was born on July 4, 1957 to the late Bobby Helms and Jewell H Whitley. He worked with Michelin for over 30 years. He attended Silver Road Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Stacy Ann Helms, brother Keith Helms, and sister Wanda Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Helms, two daughters: Lisa Smith (Gerald) of Mt. Gilead, and Amy Mills (Shawn) of Lexington, brother Jerry Helms (Linda) of Stanfield, seven grandchildren: Amber Benware (Jeremiah), Zachary Smith (Nancy), Jake Schrimpsher, Brianna Schrimpsher, Canyon Alexander (Emma), Zoe Smith, and Madalyn Smith, and five great grandchildren: Trevor, Lillith, Andrew, Theodore, and Ember.
