Hazel Maxine Barbee Layton 76, passed away Sunday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Hazel was born in Stanly County on December 4, 1941 to the late Ellis and Victoria Crisco Barbee. She was married to the late Jon D. Layton, Sr.
A service to remember and reflect her life will be held at a later date in her home place of Stanly County.
Hazel is survived by her son, Jon D. Layton, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Kenly; grandchildren, Chris Hooks, Meredith Hooks, Michael Dielenschneider, Austin Layton, Dalton Layton and Skyler Layton; and her sister Carolyn Barbee Eudy of Stanly County.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Allen Barbee; sisters, Marie Barbee Speight, Geneva Barbee Jordan and Deane Barbee Burris.
