Bertha Peeler

SALISBURY - Bertha Lyerly Peeler, 95, Salisbury, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center.

She was born April 23, 1917, the daughter of the late David Luther Lyerly and Lucy Jane Miller Lyerly. Mrs. Peeler worked at Cannon Mills and retired from Fiber Industries after 13 years of service.

She was an active member at St. Luke's Reformed Church and was a life-member of St. Luke's Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Leroy C. Peeler, whom she was married to for 45 years, he passed away on July 13, 1994; four brothers, Roy, Lewis, Lee and Carr Lyerly; four sisters, Mae McNeely, Nina Mathis, Pearl Kesler and Carrie Austin.

Those left to cherish her memories are a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at St. Luke's Reformed Church, 1775 St. Luke's Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.

Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at St. Luke's Reformed Church with Pastor Allen Tyndall officiating. Burial will be at the St. Luke's Reformed Cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to St. Luke's Reformed Church, 1775 St. Luke's Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.

Special thanks to all the staff at Liberty Commons Nursing Home for their devoted help for the last eight years and to the members of her church who continued to give her special attention during this time.
