SALISBURY - Margie Lyerly, 100, of Salisbury, died on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the N.C. Lutheran Home in Salisbury.

Miss Lyerly was born Jan. 2, 1906, in Rowan County she was the daughter of the late Flora Brown Lyerly and George Alexander Lyerly, Sr. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools and was employed for the Cannon Mills Company for 67 years before retiring. Miss Lyerly was a member of the First United Church of Christ where she taught nursery for more than 60 years. She was well known for her baked birthday cakes for the children.

Survivors include her sister Helen Frances Lyerly of Salisbury; one nephew; six nieces; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Service: A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ. Rev. Jim Humphrey, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at the Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will see friends 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the Summersett Funeral Home.
