Melba Cocilo
Melba Lorene Eagle Cocilo, 83, of Statesville, NC died Friday, September 09, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Cocilo was born in Alexander County on July 18, 1928. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Margaret Lambert Eagle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Benedict John Cocilo.
Mrs. Cocilo was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church and a retiree from Intercraft Industries. She was also a post World War Two veteran having served in the United States Women's Army Corp in Fort Lee, Virginia.
Mrs. Cocilo is survived by her four children, Debby C. Sipe (Eddy) and Nancy C. Harris both of Statesville, NC, Benedict J. Cocilo, Jr. (Karen) of Bahrain and Patricia C. Conder (Chris) of Mooresville, NC. Her seven grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Munday (Todd), Amanda M. Harris (Wes), Catherine E. Anderson, Jonathan C. Harris (Jessica), Joey C. Harris (Beth), Christina M. Cocilo, Benedict J. Cocilo, III (Laurel) and Anthony J. Cocilo also survive her. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.
A memorial service in celebration of Mrs. Cocilo's life will be held Monday, September 12, 2011 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church, 2320 East Broad Street, Statesville, NC. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers or food, memorials can be made to the Gideons organization or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 225 Davie Avenue, Statesville, NC.
