Lewis Jackson Hartsell

Lewis Jackson Hartsell, 94, of Locust, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Atrium Health University City in Charlotte.

Lewis was born December 20, 1927 in North Carolina to the late Ralph Carlo Hartsell and the late Florence Petrea Hartsell.

He was also preceded in death by wife, Kathleen Sarah Barbee Hartsell; daughter, Kathy Denise Hartsell; brothers, Willie Hartsell, Buford Hartsell, Floyd Hartsell, Clarence Hartsell, and Ernest Hartsell; and sisters, Vernie Hinson, Rossie Lee Lambert, and Brettie Barbee.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm, Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Locust officiated by Rev. Dr. Tommy Ross. Burial will follow at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at 617 Bethel Church Rd., Locust.

Survivors include son, Jeffrey Alan (Phelesia) Hartsell of Locust, NC, grandson, Justin Alan Hartsell of Washington D.C., numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.

Lewis served his country in the United States Navy in World War II on the USS Amphion AR 13.

Memorials may be made to the Veteran's Charity of the donor's choice.
