Alene Luther

Thursday, January 17, 2013 — Alene Frick Luther, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, in Silver Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Little will officiate and burial will follow in Norview Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday evening, January 17, 2013, at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.

Mrs. Luther was born in Stanly County, August 28, 1929, daughter of the late George Luther Frick and Anna Hathcock Frick.

She was a faithful charter member of South Stanly Baptist Church for over 45 years, where she served as secretary, GA councilor, pianist, choir member and Sunday School teacher before joining Silver Springs Baptist Church in 2009. She loved going to church and was proud to have 35 years of School School perfect attendance.

She was owner and operator of Luther’s Florist. Alene was an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, and spending time with friends and family laughing, while always enjoying the moment. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.  

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ernest Lee “Pete”  Luther; son, Byron Luther and wife Lynn of Albemarle; daughter, Paula Byrd and husband Keith of Norwood; three sisters, Jet Parker and Polly Hopkins, both of Albemarle and Reba Livingston of New Port News, Va.; four grandchildren, Sammy Byrd and wife LeAnne of Seattle, Wash., Kevin Byrd of Albemarle, Kelly Byrd and wife Julie of Monroe, N.C. and Tiffany Luther of Albemarle; four great-grandchildren, Sam and Andrea Byrd of Albemarle, Kiersten Byrd of Monroe and Josh Darrow of Seattle, Wash.
